Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

This is a draft policy describing how SautiLume is designed to work today, published so partners, reviewers, and early users can see our privacy approach in writing. It will be reviewed by qualified legal counsel before SautiLume processes personal data at scale, and it is not a substitute for legal advice.

The short version

SautiLume is built on zero data retention. When you speak to SautiLume, your question and the spoken answer exist only for the length of that conversation. Once the conversation ends, or the moment you press Exit, nothing about it remains on the device or on our servers. We do not keep your name, your voice recording, a transcript, or a summary of what you asked.

What we do not collect

What may exist temporarily

Your chosen language (English or Swahili) is saved on your own device only, so SautiLume can greet you correctly next time. This never leaves your device. If you optionally add a Hugging Face API token to use the AI-assisted answer mode in the demo, that token is stored on your device only and is never sent to SautiLume.

Website hosting

This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like most web hosting providers, GitHub's infrastructure may log standard technical information (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability purposes. SautiLume does not add any additional tracking, marketing, or analytics scripts to this site.

Young people and minors

SautiLume is designed for people aged 10 to 30, which includes minors. Because we do not collect or store any personal data during use of the product itself, there is no personal data of a minor for us to hold, share, or lose. As SautiLume grows, our approach to any future data collection will be built around Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019, and international best practice for services used by young people.
